Pikachu download?

Hi does anyone have the Pikachu sniffer for Windows. The authors page is down and it's nowhere to be found on Google.

If someone can point me to a valid url I would be most greatful.

Otherwise, if someone can email it to me I'd be glad to host it on my sever for future downloaders.

Thanks,

Substandard

I get "Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /tools/pikachu2.exe on this server." Did you manage to get the file? could you put it up somewhere?

how do you use pikachu2. I started it up, and selected my wireless card.(it's a built into an Intel 2200 card). And it says "Images/Emails will now be saved into the following base directory c:\pikachu". then it just sits there with the curser on the next line. I'v created traffic on the network on this and other computers, and it dosn't do anything or put anything into that folder. Do i not have the right card or am i doing something wrong?

If it just sits there, either it's not working with the card, or you haven't got the correct drivers loaded. Did you install the WinPcap files?

You can get them here...
http://winpcap.polito.it/install/default.htm

Does this only work on open networks? Or can you see traffic on your own WEP enable network if you are connected?

I have run into quite a few people looking for this after seeing a similar program for linux on The Screen Savers, I can host this on my webspace if anyone thinks there may be interest.

AFAIK you need specially adapted drivers, such as the proprietary drivers that is available with for instance WildPacket's Aeropeek application.
No wireless network card I know off, includes RFMON mode with the manufacturers drivers for the Windows platform, and I've never heard about a any WiFi card that supports promiscous mode. (RFMON and Promiscous mode are not the same).

So if the above software is yours, could you please elaborate, or better yet, provide an example of a WiFi card that includes either mode with their drivers for the Windows platfom ?

Please note that this isn't a slam against the program. The program it self is a nice piece of work, even though I prefer Driftnet. But then on the other hand, I seem to prefer *nix for the security related network stuff. Easier to understand what is going on, when you have the possibility of reading source code that implements actions rather than just taking some programmers word for what the actions are doing IMHO.

But OK, I've been known to have a tendency to be overly paranoid and distrustful of others providing for my security..
OTOH, I've not had a virus infection on a harddisk (nor a successful penetration of my network), since sometime in 1993, where a jackass booted a 5,25" 360Kb floppy with the bouncing tennisball virus on my Wordperfect box... Last I've heard, he is still shitting pieces from the 5,25" full height 40 MB MFM Seagate ST4038 harddisk I rammed up his arse.

Confirmed as working on a bcm4311 mini pci-e card. Which means that I can get more wireless tools working with that card in windows than I can in linux :/ then again my card is strange, e.g. it works with commview even though no broadcom cards are supported according to their site...
