Senao Windows Driver

Hi, I am looking for a driver for Senao NL-2511CD PLUS EXT2. What is the best driver to use for that card in Windows? I downloaded the driver app from senao's website and it woun't work. It says, the hardware cannot be found. I will be gettin' the new harddrive for my dell laptop, should I install linux on it and use that?

Is the senao a hermes card? I thought it was prism or some shit.

Yeah, you need to get the right drivers for that card. The Orinoco drivers are not going to cut the mustard on this one.

The Senao cards use a Prism chipset. Prism2, if I recall correctly.

Yea, I agree with you, their site really sucks. I checked out the link you provided. Thanks for the info. I like that site. IT says there that this card will carry 11mbps at only -89db. Thats kinda amazing since my orinoco gold will only pull 1-2mbps at the same signal level. Neat shmitt...

Try the EnGenius site. (google for it) EnGenius is the North American wing of Senao. Though I will save you the trouble http://www.netgate.com/support/Drivers/V%5B1%5D.802.zip
this is probably the best driver for the Senao. They are the ones I use, and they support WPA using WZC

Unofficial Senao Support

I've looked and looked and it seems that the best unofficial Senao support site is located at the following webpage:

http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/SenaoCard

It has some URL for various software that work with the Senao card including some little know software like the WLAN tool. It also mentions the RF Manager windows driver software that lets you set power levels for the Senao card.

The RF Manager is only for the 3eti card and WLAN expert is only for windows 98
(unfortionately) But that web page is probably the best Senao resource around.

I just loaded up Windows XP for the first time in ages, patched the system, did my usual rundown on killing dumb services and reconfiguring the OS... then I inserted one of my senao cards and let WUS try to find a driver.

.. lo and behold.. There is a (spanish?) version of the driver provided by Microsoft now. .. not that I recommend using it (the cm looks a little chopped down), but for novelties sake.

lol, Yea Windows update ate my original driver too. It thinks the spanish one is a better mach because it is digitally signed by ms. The driver I mentioned here:
http://netstumbler.org/showpost.php?p=99743&postcount=8 is a better match. I suggest switching to it.

did you notice that when using netstumbler with that card, you cannot see the signal level, but the color dots still change according to signal level. Also, when going into configuration properties for that card, the window tends to freese and the whole control application that the card comes with appears very unstable. Could it be windows? THe more i use it, the more it makes me want to try linux...
