Streetstumbler Error Message
These are my Streetstumbler errors:
This is the error that I get when using the summary output of NetStumbler 0.4: "Run-time error '55': File already open". When using the full text output of NS 0.4: It reads all entries in, but the GPS info is missing. If I then try to "Convert All", I get "Run-time error '62': Input past end of file. If I edit the lines to include the GPS Long/Lat, I get the error: "Run-time error '55': File already open". If I edit the output of NS 0.4 to remove the first 4 lines, then I get "bad file - try again" errors. It would be interesting to see the methods used to convert these files, it's hard to know what needs to be fixed right now. I had similar errors with NS 0.3 output. Any ideas? Thanks, Rob |

Thanks for the reply. I've used the Thorn's perl scripts, they work quite well. That may be all I need. I did have problems using SS with NS 0.3, but I can't recall the exact errors. |

To Zerolight2003, StreetStumbler Issue Analysis
Here is what I have discovered using StreetStumbler.
If you export a summary.txt file while NetStumbler is running, that file will open in StreetStumbler again and again. If you save your NetStumbler file (as a filename.ns1) file then load it back into NetStumbler and export a summary.txt file from it, you will get the "File already open Error" or the "Input past end of file Error" I was once a Systems Analyst and my programming experience is in Fortran, Cobol, dBase and Basic (not VB). That was a while ago so I have enough knowledge to be dangerous. I think the problem is in NetStumbler. Specifically in the section that opens an existing *.ns1 file and exports a summary.txt file. Even though the summary file is written to disk, I don't think it is properly closed. Hope this helps. ![]() |

I was not aware that proper capitalization and gramer where prerequisites here. Thanks for your wonderful help!! Age discrimination is so imature. If you dont want to answer the questions, then do the distinguished thing by not replying. If anyone is interested in helping out this pile of dust with an answer, I would greatly appreciate your help. Rod |

Had you bothered to read the Welcome Desk, you would have known that. After all that thread was posted BEFORE you signed up.
