Dutch,

you are absolutely right. But what looks like nonsense isn't always nonsense.
I know pretty much examples where other's company's utilities work with other similar hardware (mostly HD, CD, etc).

And what is more. Different producers use different chips. So it is quite possible that some utility works with that chip undependably on producer.
BTW Orinoco is such producer.

Yes and in order to PROVE that you are able to use all your faculties and thereby not being in the cathegory of people who ought to donate their unused brains to science, you'd have done some research first..

Such as which chipset the Orinoco cards are based on (Hermes and HermesII), which chipset the Linksys WPC54G card is based on (Broadcomm afair) and which chipset the clientmanager in question supported..
All that information is available in the readme's, on the manufacturers sites, and in the forums here, if you had bothered to use the grey matter between your ears, and searched...

You didn't do any research of that kind... So please fill out the form donating your brain to science, or wisen up and start using it...

Try to use an Orinoco card... Then the Orinoco client manager would detect a card which it supports... My guess is that would fix the problem of the Orinoco Client manager saying "No wireless card is present".

Yeah sorry but the Orinoco Client ONLY supports Orinoco cards. Try getting the linksys Client instead.

*I forgot to mention that if you want to keep using the Orinoco Client in WinXP, not only do you have to install the client software in compatability mode but after it's installed make sure you set the cmulc.exe to run under Windows2000 mode as well.

I guess I must just be lucky. diasbled WZC and installed the Orinoco CM as I would in 2K and it worked fine. No fiddling with compatability mode needed (at least in my case).
