WiFi Hardware but with different client managers
Hi,
I have a PCI 802.11b Am1772(tm) Wireless LAN Chipset, and I was wondering . . .
The (CD &) client manager it comes with (is for 98 & 2000) although it installs the client manager onto your machine when using XP however it does not auto run the client manager at startup and thus does not use it, as it tells you in the manual for the hardware that when using with XP you should use XP's built in wireless tools.
When I run the client manager manual from the program files it says the adaptor is not found. However there is no major hardware or driver problem as the card works fine for all applications (its just me experimenting with the client manager under XP when I dont really need too). Believe me I have tried many driver versions trying to get it to work with its own client manager under XP, with no luck.
So, anyway my point is, as i know im not meant to bother using the client manager that came with my hardware and I dont wana use the XP wireless manager, I was wondering if I could use another client manager (with my Am1772(tm) Wireless LAN Chipset) that would pherhaps recongnise the card is there like any set of generic client managers or tools that will recongnise a range of cards/chipsets and allow me to configure and connect to networks?
Thank you very much for your time and help!
Ashley.
