gps

So for all of the wardrivers out there using the KisMAC, I have a question for you...

Can you point me to a link or provide instructions for getting the Garmin Etrex Legend via USB to work with KisMAC.

PB G4
1GB ram
1.25 cpu
10.3.3 os

KisMAC functions perfectly all except reading GPS. System Profiler sees the serial-to-USB connected.

- I've tried to install gpsd but the configure keeps failing.
- I've install KeySpan usb package (using generic converter)
- I've tried to use MACgpsPro
- I've tried Connect 2.0
- I've tried Link2gps

Each time I can't get the gps to be recognized. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated......

Under the Kismac prefrences, GPS settings, click the arrow so that /dev/tty.USAwhatever is showing. I have the 19QI so it says /dev/tty.USA19QI18P1.1 It should just work like that. Make sure your Garmin is set to nmea output. That is almost the exact setup I have. I use the 400mhz ti. Never been able to get the real kismet or gpsd to install. Gave up on that, kismac works pretty well. It does better mapping for me anyway. I just wish you could import files from kismet to use on the map.

You have hit on where I'm having the problem. I don't have the option of selecting the port...it is not showing. My options are:

- do not use GPS integration
- use GPSD to get coordinates
- /dev/tty.Bluetooth-PDA-Sync

This tells me that GPSD was installed (but a bad install) and none of the other apps are recognizing any non-Bluetooth serial connections....

I plugged in my usb bluetooth adapter to see what it would do. It shows up too. Might try uninstalling everything that has to do with the keyspan adapter and reinstall. I did a search and couldn't find a plist for it so it should just be the keyspan folder.

Gps

I've tried all of that and it is still not recognized by the KeySpan utility. I'm going to try to find the KeySpan USB2Serial converter and see if that is the "solution"

Thanks for the help....
