airjack error

Hi

I am relatively new to this forum. I am using airjack to perform the man-in-the-middle attack. I am using a laptop that has an internal orinoco card and i have aslo plugged in an external orinico card in the pcmcia slot. I followed all the steps from http://www.geekspeed.net/~beetle/dow...g.html#airjack and i was able to see the two interfaces aj0 and aj1 in ifconfig. I am therefore assuming that my airjack driver is successfully installed. However, when i try to run say wlan_jack, i get the following error

./wlan_jack -b Mac address -c 1 -i aj0
get_socket: Operation not permitted

I don't know why this error is occuring. It is comming from the get_socket method in wlan_jack.c at the ioctl(sockfd, SIOCAJSMODE, &req)

I am pretty sure, there is nothing wrong with the code, but i don't know how to fix this error. Could anyone please help?

-Thanks

Keep in mind that I haven't used Airjack, so this is only a SWAG, but "Operation not permitted" looks like a permission error. Are you running as root or su?

Hi

Thanks for responding. I am running as root. I still cannot comprehend why i am getting this error. Can it be due to kernel version problem, I am using 2.4.18?

It looks like a possiblity, since one line in those notes mentions: "Specify /usr/src/linux-2.4 as the kernel source code directory and specify /lib/modules/2.4.20 -13.9.HOSTAP/kernel/drivers as the module install directory. Accept the defaults for all other questions for the pcmcia-cs configure script."
