Airodump and Capturing IV (ver 2.1 - 2.3)

Hi there, i have a strange problem between version 2.1 and 2.3 of airodump. When i run airodump 2.1 on my windows operating system and capture packets from a certain AP i get alot of IV (about 1000).
Then when i run airodump 2.3 on linux (fedora4) and leave it running for a long time i only get 2 or 3 IV.
how come airodump 2.1 captures more IV then 2.3?

also how do you determine the size of the wep key i.e. wheather its 128bit or 64bit etc..?

You ask the person who created the key what it's length is.

IIRC, airodump 2.1 on windows did not have unique IVs detection.

Or try both 128 and 64. But that's a moot point because you know what key length you set it to anyway.
