AirSnarf - Help with setup

Hi,

First of all I'm new to Linux and AirSnarf, very new so please don't send me away to the "Read how to use search" because I've already done that and have had no results in what I'm looking for.

Could some one point me to a link where I can read bout setting up airsnarf, I need it to be explained in "plain English" so to speak as it's all new to me.

I understand the concept of Airsnarf and the config file too.

Thanx in advance,

FBW

As far as I can tell, this forum is for NETSTUMBLER / MiniStumbler with a few hints of Kismet/Kismac tossed in.

Thorn,

Thanx for the reply, I've already looked there and there is no help file or documentation on setup, it just explains what it does and what to use it for.

Thanx

Maybe you missed this?

Quote:
Install & run Airsnarf with the following commands:

tar zxvf airsnarf-0.2.tar.gz
cd ./airsnarf-0.2
./airsnarf
Can't get much plainer than that.

The documentation is right there on the page. It's just three lines.

1) Install it:
Code:
tar zxvf airsnarf-0.2.tar.gz
2) Change to the directory:
Code:
cd ./airsnarf-0.2
3) Run it:
Code:
./airsnarf

Edit: The Psychic Amish Stumbler is mindreading again. And typing faster, too.

It's the Psychic Extension for Firefox that I installed with the newest version.

I appreciate the help, if indeed it is help unless you guys are having a laugh. I don't blame you !

I've got that far with it, it's all installed and I've configured the .cfg file too.

I get this error that's why I need some help with setup as I'm sure it's something Linux related rather than Airsnarf.

This is what I get:

Creating dhcpd.conf....Done.
Building the captive portal...cp: target '/var/www/html' is not a directory
cp: cannot create regular file '/var/www/cgi-bin' : No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access '/var/www/cgi-bin/*' : No such file or directory
Done.
Setting the wireless parameters...Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device rausb0 ; Invalid argument.
Done.
Setting the ip address and default route...Done.
./airsnarf: line 46: /etc/init.d/dhcp : no such file or directory
./airsnarf: line 47: /etc/init.d/httpd : no such file or directory
./airsnarf: line 48: /etc/init.d/sendmail : no such file or directory

The rest of the results are OK

I need help with this guys.

Thanx

It would appear as though /var/www/html is not a directory. That would seem to be the root of your problems.

It almost looks like you have not met all the requirements for running the program.

You're directories for the web server haven't don't exist or aren't what airsnarf is expecting. Most likely that is a result of the web server being incorrectly installed or not installed at all. Those directories are standard for apache, and I'm pretty sure that they are standard for some other web servers. My suggestion would be to install apache and try it again.

While you're at it, you might want to make sure that the rest of the required items are installed. They are listed on the airsnarf page immediately prior to the install lines. That you haven't done it is indicated by those line 46-48 errors.
