Post ARP replay

Hey all,

I have been experimenting with cracking WEP and have been successful on my own kit using a deauth / ARP replay attack.

Im now trying it on a friends equipment to make sure the first success wasnt a fluke (and yes, the owner has OKd the attempt).

When I captured the ARP on my own equipment I got one with the following parameters:
  • FromDS - 0
  • ToDS - 1
  • BSSID - MAC Address of the Target AP
  • Source MAC - MAC Address of the Target computer
  • Destination MAC - FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF

but when I tried the same attack on my friends equipment i get -
  • FromDS - 1
  • ToDS - 0
  • BSSID - MAC Address of the Target AP
  • Source MAC - MAC Address of the Target computer
  • Destination MAC - FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF

I looks as though im capturing an ARP going from the AP to the client, and because of this the packet is useless for replaying back to the AP to generate traffic; in its original state.

Have any of you come accross APs being the first to issue an ARP? I never had this issue with my own equipment...

Thanks.

And how do you want us to verify this ? Ask him to call me by phone at (+45) 2324 1981 (international call, to Denmark). Untill he has done that, this thread is closed.
