atheros madwifi patch
I recently bought, and finally recieved an Atheros MiniPCI card off eBay.

Currently, I don't have a wireless router, but my neighbor does. After explaining how I plan on getting my own router, but I just want to experiement with WEP cracking to make my own (and his) a bit more secure, he agreed to let me experiement.

Right now, I've been using BackTrack, since there isn't any drivers that support packet injection in Windows, but my problem is that I seem to need to patch the madwifi driver to support aireplay on Linux.

I've searched these forums and Google, but haven't found any luck on how to do this. If anyone could explain how to patch the driver with BackTrack, or if that isn't possible, another LiveCD that has a patch for the madwifi driver.

Please explain how your ability to crack WEP will make the network any more secure?

Umm, yeah.

Since there are ways to speed up the attack, there is no way for you to slow down the process. If you're using WEP, it can and will be cracked by someone that really wants to do it.

Therefore, there is no need for you to 'test' it against your neighbors.

If you had followed SOP and read all the posts in the Welcome Desk section, lurked for a while before posting, then you might have gotten an idea on why you are getting the replies you are receiving.

True, but it's also illegal for someone to crack a WEP key without permission.

By learning different ways to crack WEP keys, I would also be able to spot certain things that would suggest someone is attempting to crack my WEP key.

Which then in turn look outside the window since I live in a rather small circle. Anyone attempting to crack a WEP key would have to park a car in the middle of the circle.

If that doesn't work, I can simply keep changing the network key until the person attempting to gather IV's gives up.



Basically, if everyone here wants to flame and not help, then don't reply. I'll just find help some other way.

First, that wasn't humor. That was being outright rude.

Second, I had a question. I made an account. I searched the forums. I didn't find results, so I asked the question. I don't usually look at forum rules because they're going to follow the same rules.

1). Search before asking.

2). Use proper english.

3). Don't be an idiot.

But, I went back and read the rules you mentioned. The only thing I didn't do was search 50+ times. Excuse me for breaking a single rule.
