dstumbler for *BSD
Specifically, 'dstumbler' is a Netstumbler-LIKE (not identical) application for Open/Net/FreeBSD. When used with a serial GPS device, dstumbler will log LAT/LONG along with the network name, MAC, and signal strength information.
Each time a AP is contacted the data is logged, so there will be multiple log entries for each network, making true 'mapping' more feasible. We tested _both_ Netstumbler and dstumbler using a pair of Dell laptops with the Orinoco (Gold) card, and dstumbler logged one very weak signal that the Windows Netstumbler host missed. Dstumbler should work with the Prism-II card, or any other card that works under BSD. Nonesuch |
