Creating more IV's

Hi guys, long time reader, first time poster.

I am currently using an Auditor live CD on my dell laptop with an internal Intel 2200B/G. Unfortunatly that card can only capture packets, not re-inject them, and the wireless AP I am trying to crack dosen't generate any IV's in Airodump. *Note: In Airsnort, on certain times it generated some encrypted packs but no intresting. Is an encrypted packet the same as an IV?*

So in order to generate some IV's I went out and bought a DWL-G650 rev. B5 based on the atheros chipset. However, every tutorial I see using Void11 involes knowing the Mac of the a target computer, which I do not know. Is it still possible for me to generate IV's on a AP that may or may not have a computer associated with it all the time?

Also, since I read that the 2200b/g can not re-inject packets, does that mean I can't use aireplay with it. Also, am I don't somethign wrong by tryign to use the 2200bg for packet capturing and the dwl-g650 for packet re-injecting on the same computer

All and any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

~David

I read this post by somone

Quote:
"To use attack 3, first you need to generate an ARP request. Attack 0 (deauth) will do this while Attack 1 (fake auth) does not. Attack 3 will then re-inject the ARP request. Using an atheros card, I've been able to capture roughly 100,000/min. Given ~500,000 to crack 128-bit WEP, you should be able to do this in about 5 min "
So it seems like I can use my dwl-g650 with void11, Im just a bit unsure on how to in my particular case since I don't have a target computer

Have you compared them with your equipment?

They seem to be the MAC's of the equipment itself.

I am curious as to how you do not know the MAC of the target computer?

I am getting the feeling this is not "your" network?

If you're doing this testing on your own computer, then you should know the associated MAC addresses of your equipment. If you don't know the MAC addresses, it means you don't own the computers nor have permission to use them, and we're not going to help you with aircrack against someone else's network.
