How can I detect if a AP has WEP enabled or WPA enabled in Kismet? It only has a column for if WEP is detected.
I'm also curious which PrismGT cards work well in monitor mode, have a place for an external antenna, and have the kind of range that you would expect from an Orinoco card? It seems to me like most of the utility's created are geared for Prism 2/2.5 type chipsets. Therefore I'm not so sure if I would want to get an Orinoco. Although I hear they are really good for War Driving. I'm also not sure how well the majority of utility's support the PrismGT chipset. If you can help me with any of these questions, I would be much appreciated. thanks marshall |

The AP will show up as green, indicating it is running encryption. It will not tell if it is WEP or WPA.
Look at Prism54.org Their drivers work for Linux, and support monitor mode. Most Prism cards should work with NS with win 2000/xp. I have an Orinoco Classic, never had a problem with it. (I GET MONITOR MODE IN WINDOWS!)
