I plug the Orinoco GOLD card into the Win2k laptop, and it sees the orinoco AP, but not the d-link. It doesn't show the SSID either.
And no, i can't get on the net. EDIT: I rebooted the D-Link AP, now I CAN see it from all devices. So it must of locked or something upon startup. and i CAN see the Orinoco AP from all devices, just not the SSID. As for the Orinoco, I figured the problem out. Cached files on the PocketPC. I surfed the net using the same sites to test this.. I (stupidly) didn't think about cache files on the iPAQ or the laptop for that matter. yes i know, stupid mistake... but hey, at least i figured out what the problems were ;-P

MAC address of "protected" Avaya AP still visible
Hi,
I've been wondering for already a long time why you can still see the MAC address of Avaya / Agere / ORiNOCO AP's show up in NetworkStumbler even when they are configured as a fully closed system ( broadcast SSID disabled). This seems to be quite a vulnerability of the Avaya wireless LAN solutions. Other vendors' systems remain completely invisible to NetStumbler whenconfigured properly. At Avaya, they don't seem to have a reasonable answer to this question... Can anyone explain what's happening and why it does happen? Many thanks Rudy |
