how big to make the linux partition?

how big should it be?
im only going to be running kismet, its mapping stuff, and mabey a couple other wardriving tools

Pretty thin on the details. How big is the drive? Planning a multi-boot setup? Which distro?

Give yourself 2GB for the linux partition, and an additional .5GB for linux swap.

its a 60 gig drive
and im plan on multi-booting xp

2048MB /home
split the remainder between /usr and ntfs

... although if you plan on filling your windows drive with video, drop the size of your /usr

how about a simpler way

1 gig swap

6 gig ext2 or 3, install everything here

my rule of thumb for linux is that if i cant fit what i want into 6 gigs i want too much

heheh I guess it depends how much you do in nix.. video files are what add up the fastest

as for the multiple partitions.. just gives more flexibility to control stuff.. improves performance slightly for some things too
