kismet and 0.0.0.0

Hi everyone. I was wandering why kismet returns some access points ip's as 0.0.0.0. Why is that? In the beggining I was thinking that it was an ap without any computer of the network turned on, but I tried doing the same thing with my ap and I got an ip in that field. Anyone knows the answer?

0.0.0.0 means that there wasn't any traffic to let kismet know for sure

Since Kismet is a passive monitor it needs some traffice to resolve what the wireless source IP range is. If it doesn't have enough traffice to get it then it spits 0.0.0.0.
