Knoppix STD - Kismet
Hey guys,
I downloaded the distro last night and put aside Windows/Netstumbler for a bit (well now for a long time since theres so much more to learn). Picked up this message from Kismet: Suspicous Clients (mac here) probing but never participating. After doing some searching here and on the Kismet forums, could possibly be a netstumbler laptop...but Im still confused as to the "false positive" statement given in the help forums. Does that mean an AP is failing or improperly configured? Also can a Kismet see another Kismet program? |

Something like this...as documented at KismetWireless?
Alert name: PROBENOJOIN Alert type: Trend Alert on: Clients probing for networks, being accepted by that network, and continuing to probe for networks. Alert message: "Suspicious client $sourcemac - probing networks but never joining."

As the crow flies
From Wikipedia "As the crow flies" is a colloquial term used to describe the most direct route between two points on the Earth. It is most often used to differentiate distance along this route with that along a less direct route, such as a road or railroad, and is generally the same as the great circle route. An example would be the distance between Key West and Pensacola, at the two opposite ends of Florida. Driving, the distance is approximately 792 miles or 1275 km, but directly across the Gulf of Mexico it is only around 500 miles or 800 km as the crow flies. It's Thursday and I forgot my towel. |
