Linux problems....
Hello i hope i've placed this in the right place. I just installed Slack 9.1. I'm haveing a problem setting up my wifi card for it. All i want to do is connect to my wireless ap. I, at one point, knew how to do this, but i've forgotten now and cannot seem to remember. Its very frustrating. Can someone explain it or point me to a site that does. Thanks for the help!!

See if the device is enabled via ifconfig
It should be device "eth0", although sometimes there are device names like "wln0". That may depend on the distro.

This link talks about Slackware9.1 but is a bit skimpy on details: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/101989
While this is more generic. About halfway down the page on this one it details the configuration files for wlan-ng. It's specific to the Linksys WMP11 and RedHat, but it may give you some ideas. http://www.siliconvalleyccie.com/lin...mp11-linux.htm Hope that helps.

You probably need to uncomment a few lines in /etc/wireless.opts. Mine has something like this:
*,*,*,00:02:2D:*) INFO="home AP" ESSID="wireless" MODE="Managed" # CHANNEL="11" # RATE="auto" KEY="01234567890123456789ABCDEF" ;; This is for use with wireless extensions. |
