MadWifi vs. Prism54
NOTE: THIS IS NOT A N00B "WHICH IS THE BEST CADR???//?" POST.
I have an orinoco classic gold, and I was looking to buy another card with g support for linux. At work, (Best Buy) I can get a few wireless cards for pretty cheap, and which one I pick will depend on drivers. Is there more support/updates/features in MadWifi than Prism54 or vice versa? I mostly use kismet and driftnet if that makes any difference. Any feedback is appreciated. thx, clayton |

I personally would go with the Atheros. The support isn't good with NS, but I like the madwifi drivers better. If you are going to use NS a lot, I would go with the prism set, because kismet will work too. If you get an atheros card, you can always get an Orinoco classic for NS. I don't really see any problem with either.

Provided you can get both the madwifi driver and wlan_ng (I think thats the one that supports prism54) working, I think there isn't a clearly better card. I would do some research on the cards you are looking at and see if one has a higher transmit power or recieve sensitivity. If thier both the same I'd go with the cheaper one.
