Need linux guru help.
Okay here is my problem. My cool Itronix laptop just got a new usb gps. It's the one that comes with streets and trips 2K5. I modified the PL2303 kernel module to work, freakin MS changed the device id. So anyway, as root it works like a champ. As me, no joy, gpsd doesn't even see the thing. I can do a dmesg, it shows up and everything, but it won't "start". What's really bugging me is the damn thing worked last night! Got home and tried to do a gpsmap and Imagemagick puked all over the place. So I redownloaded and rebuilt that, works now. That is the only thing that has changed since last night. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like the user or user's group needs to be set in the gpsd permissions. Are you using a GUI? You may be able to see the permissions via a right click. Otherwise you 'll need to do it via the command line using the command chmod.
