problem connecting to found AP

Hi,

I've used the kismet program with my linksys WPC11 3.0 card to find some networks. I get a list of APs, it finds the IP ranges, and can capture packets. However, if I try and connect to the AP, I cannot. Using the wavemon program, it shows my link and signal being very low.

Does this have to do with a low transmit power on the WPC11? The receive is fine, since I am able to capture packets without any problem. Would an external antenna help?

Thanks.
