Good luck. I'm off to bed, the night crew will have to take over for me. If no one else responds, post your results, but I won't be able to get to it until sometime tomorrow.

Hey Fr0zt, did you ever have any luck with this? I also have an atheros card and am having the same problems you were. I'm using that Tom's Networking guide as well. I'm getting frustrated here and just ordered a dwl-122 which is supposed to have the prism2 chipset. Maybe I'll be able to run void11 with that. Yeah, I can run Kismet, can run airdump, aircrack, and aireplay, even though I don't know if it'll ever find an arp, but I cannot run a void11. And without that I think I'm screwed 'cause I'll never be able to capture an arp with aireplay to generate any traffic. Now I read here that they were talking about running some kind of deauth attacks with aireplay. But what exactly are the commands you have to enter to be able to do that? And would we be able to do them with an atheros?

LOL! holy cow, I guess I was talking to someone that I would never get an answer from then, hahahah. I wonder what happened to him, maybe he gave up. This kinda stuff is very time consuming and can be frustrating sometimes. Anyways, I did some searching and found this:

iwpriv ath0 mode 2

aireplay -1 0 -e [valid ssid] -a [real AP mac] -h 0:1:2:3:4:5 ath0

With the latest madwifi CVS, you need to run sysctl to enable the ath0raw

interface (no patch required) and use ath0raw instead of ath0.

Thank you for the quick response. I've done my rtfm in the README and found the:

sysctl -w dev.ath0.rawdev=1

Which said it will create the ath0raw device. When I run 'iwconfig' I see it and

it says "ath0raw no wireless extensions". But the documentation now says that I

need to run:

ifconfig ath0raw up

And iwconfig still says no wireless extensions, but thats ok because ifconfig

shows its up.
And to finish it off, I ran:

aireplay -1 0 -e [ssid] -a [valid ap mac] -h 0:1:2:3:4:5 ath0raw

And it worked!!!

08:56:25 Sending Authentication Request
08:56:25 Authentication successful
08:56:25 Sending Association Request
08:56:25 Association successful :-)

Thank you Devine.

I'm gonna try this and see what happens...

As you wish : man aireplay<enter>

Now take it to the auditor livecd support site, since that's where it belongs, if you can't get something in that distro working.
