Hi all,
Im running auditors security collection CD with my new Senao 2511 card. Kismet seems to work great, and airodump runs fine aswell except it seems to pick up very little IVs... Im monitoring my home network, an ap with one client downloading 3 torrents. I would expect to be recieving multiple IVs a second with this amount of traffic but im only recieving about 1 iv every 50 secs.... Currently im sitting at 8000 packets captured with only 45 ivs identified.. Is there a known problem with this card and airodump? If not, what could I be doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help, proxy. |

Sounds like its perfectly cromulent. Newer APs don't barf out weak IV like the original APs did. Might want to read up on the topic though and learn why and what your doing. Cracking WEP isn't just supposed to be click and wait type of deal.

Thanks for the reply,
I have done some research and understand that theres more to it than that. Iv tried the deauth attack which proves successful in producing an IV a second... I havnt tried it yet but I assume a replay/reply attack would provide a similar number of IVs I understand that we're looking for around 50k IVs to crack the key in the end. How long would you sit at a surveil / attack? It just seems that with all these fancy techniques its still gonna take me a long time to gather enough IVs, would you normally attack a network with more hosts so as to recieve more traffic? Thanks. |

Sorry yes, missed a very important zero!
OK will have to give injection a go, the reason I orginally posted was to ensure that I havnt misconfigured anything and have an expected ratio of packets to weak IVs... I have left the kit sitting for a while and its caught 15,000 packets with only 500 IVs flagged. If I were to inject would that give a better packet to IV ratio? Does the above seem normal? If so I will stop bothering you all and will get on with learning how to inject! Thanks again. |
