On a serious note....

how do you all war drive with you linux boxes? I mean, I am trying to somehow configure my WPC11 v.4 card to run on Suse 9.2 As it looks once I get in configured it will only work on my network. I am trying to get some help on how I should configure my laptop and make it able to war drive. Any help would be grand.

Thanks

maybe I should clarify what I am asking. First off thanks for the link, but I know that kistmet is the main tool for wardriving with linux boxes. What I am after is since you all are wardriving already, how is it that you got your machines to work. I cant configure my box worth crap to get it to recognize my card. How is it that you all get yours hooked up? I am to the point where I might just by a laptop with it already configured so I dont have to create more grey hairs over this. If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it.

Chewie

I'd start with the card as suspect as I recall something about the WPC11 cards not playing nice. My suggestion would be to buy an Orinoco on ebay and use dragorn's patched 0.13e drivers. The 0.15rc2 are buggy.

WPC11 V4 is realtek. I would drop it and get either a hermes or prism card.

Agreed. Then, I would take a serious look at what you think WarDriving is. If you are trying to connect to other networks without permission that isn't WarDriving. It's theft.

Give Linksys a call they may still allow you to send them the v.4 card and they'll send you linux compatible card in exchange.

I think your best bet would be to see what works with the OS/Software you want to use and buy accordingly.
