Using -r option for aireplay

Hello,

I've been using the auditor livecd and it work greats. Unfortunately the aireplay and airodump are versions 2.1/2. I have a few good working packets (worked the first time) and then saved to pcap files. How can I use these saved pcap files for aireplay? I tried-

aireplay -r <pcapfile> ath0

and a few other variations, but I always get some answer like (fread)...successful; and then it leaves me at the command line again.

Would some kind soul please let me know how to use the "-r" function as the connection I am trying to crack is not being actively used to get good packets to hit it with on the fly.

I'm kind of confused about this statement as well. What did you mean by this?

I believe he means he's just driving by and hoping to get enough packets to crack the WEP, but there isn't enough traffic on it to get enough weak IV's.

OP, is that what you meant?

yea, thats exactly what i meant- the computer on the network is rarely used, so getting enough ivs is taking forever and the only time i can get a good packet for aireplay is few and far between- and when i do the target router shuts down after i get 200k ivs or so.

when i try to use the -r option, i get (fread) ....failed: success

What kind of router is it? Have you tried passing more traffic through it to get more IV's?

What do you mean you're pretty sure it's a Linksys?

Can you get physical access and verify it's a Linksys instead of a Belkin Pre-N? It would help in making a correct suggtion for your problem.

What does it say on the front? Or better yet, read the make/model/MAC/FCC id off the stickers and let us know so we can provide better info.
