Ever since Rhapsody came out, the connection has sucked because of all the display stations streaming. Not sure if you guys do this, but the one I was at, we made a CD (updated weekly) which had all the Windows Updates, Norton/McAfee DATs, PC Certify, SpyBot, and some other utilities on it. Then you write up a little batch file to run it all, maybe put together a nice autorun file, and tada! 1 click for customizations, tune ups, etc etc.

I worked on a CD like that, but it wasn't passed around much that I know of. The one from my store (480, Muskegon) was passed to 409, 406, and 464 (Grand Rapids). Dunno if they passed it around or not.

The one I made used CDAuto for the menu, had the BBY logo in the background, and about 10-12 items on the menu, with a lot more stuff on it if you explored the CD.

The AP at BestBuy where I live is a public AP. Thy encourage people to use it. They even advertise it in their entrance. There's a decent-sized poster that says "Welcome to the Best Buy Hotspot", and there are info cards on how to hook up into it via laptop or PDA. It is also used for their Wireless Networking demos. I love the HP wireless printer .

The real problem Best Buy is going to have is prosecuting an intruder into one of their unprotected APs that isn't intended for public use, if they have a sign in the door inviting all the world and their little sisters to connect to another one on the same premises. In this case Best Buy may find itself without recourse if a clever cracker hooks into a cash register AP and then claims he was looking for the public hotspot.

I simply do not comprehend companies the size of Best Buy who claim that turning WEP on is "too hard."
