hot spots in my area in manhattan?

Does anybody know of any hotspots in my area (6th and Grand) in manhattan? I know about nycwireless, and I've found some that are reasonably close, but I'm looking for some that are closer.

Thanks in advance.

NYC is hot with wireless... Driving or walking through midtown will get you hundreds of sites, about 1/2 to 2/3 offer internet connectivity.

I use a handspring with a xircom 802.11b springboard module. Is there any software that will enable me to use this device for driving or walking?

I was hoping someone would tell me about specific sites in my area. Would you? :-)

Springport wireless

Do you like this device on your Visor? Now that the price has dropped from $299 to $99, I'm considering a buy. Unfortunately, there are no "real" linux distro's for the Palm/Visor at this time. I'm looking into some of the perl-based wireless detecting solutions. Please keep us informed of your progress as well!

It works well. The limitations are those of the palmos -- i.e., 160x160 screen, etc.

It would be very cool if I could walk into any starbucks and use this, but tmobile's login requires http/javascript support not available on the palm right now. That may change with palmos5, although I'd have to buy a whole new device, and 802.11b adapter, to use it.

My ultimate goal is to be able to go online at starbucks, now, using someone's leaked bandwidth, rather than paying for tmobile, since tmobile has been so unfriendly about supporting my device, and without shlepping around a laptop. :-)

ummmmm..... so you are basically stating that your intentions are to steal services from an unauthorized network? Or did I misread your intentions about "using someone's leaked bandwidth"?

I would, of course, attempt to contact the owner of the bandwidth, and only use any bandwidth if I have obtained explicit permission to do so.
