Isn't that one of those antenna connectors that's only rated for 1 or 2 insertions before they break? I couldn't get a good look at it from the picture but that's what it appeared to be.

Ok, I knew I remembered reading that some of those connectors weren't rated for lots of use. Couldn't remember which one or how many.

It's a U-FL hirose. I e-mailed fab about getting a blade antenna with one one the end about a year ago. They said they didn't have the ability to add a hirose connector to one. Something about the cable being too big... I still want to take apart a linksys usb wifi thumbdrive thingy to see what kind of connection the little antenna has on it. Might make a good addition to my Zaurus, which also has a hirose connection.

uf l to N-female

Netgate has them for $14.00 USD but I would look into the use of some sort of cable strain relief before attaching it.

Took mine apart again, so I thought I'd share. Sorry some of the pics are a little out of focus. Think I staticed the wifi card when I had it out, it doesn't make as good a link as it did before.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have an h5550 and i'm having problems getting the external antenna to work.

I purchased a UF-L hirose pigtail from Jefatech - one of these:

http://jefatech.com/product/UFLRPSMA6

I connected it to the connector on the iPAQ, but I can't get it to work. I tried it with / without the standard antenna connected to the iPAQ, and running an external antenna makes no difference. The wifi won't work without the standard antenna connected so i'm confident my external isn't working.

Has anyone got this hirose connector to work? Do I need to solder anything on the circuit board?
