54mbps AdHoc ?????

Anybody know how to make an adhoc network that doesn't use the 11mbps 802.11b standards?? Me and a few others have laptops with 802.11g cards and are tired of searching for hotspots to play games against eachother. also, it doesn't make much sense to be lugging around hubs and whatnot. And yes, there is a noticeable difference when you're playing fps's.

802.11g adhoc... does it exist?

No.

(Nothing further to add. This is just added as an endrun around the "The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters" message.)

If you are lucky, your 802.11g cards clientmanager and driver allows you to set it up as a "virtual" AP, thereby allowing you to use g speeds without an actual AP.

Some PrismGT and Atheros based cards support it. It depends on the driver, and the client manager for the cards.
ZyXEL's G-220 USB stick support it as well.

Google for Soft AP, and Pseudo IBSS.
