"Adapter not Present"

I have a problem which is baffleing me. I have a Dell m700 with a built in Intel Pro wireless 2200bg.

I also have a DLink airplus G DWL g122 USB, and I have A Orinoco Gold PCMI wireless card.

The only time I can get Netstumbler to work is when I plug in the Orinoco card.

When I try to use either the built in wireless or the DLink USb device, I can see and select the device in the DEVICE drop down menu, but a message flashes "Adapter not present" at the bottom of the window.

Can anyone tell me how to make "the Adapter present"?

Did you bother to read the Help file or maybe the FAQ on the Netstumbler site? I bet you didn't, cause if you had, you would have seen that your Dcrap is not on the list of supported devices there for it ain't ever gonna work.

Of the three devices you list only the ORiNOCO is supported natively.

You should have two entries for the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG on the Device menu like so:
"Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection Prism2"
"Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection NDIS 5.1"

Use the NDIS 5.1 driver. It may work, but you will not get accurate Noise and SNR information.

All this information is in the README and the Help files.

Well Bud, I did BOTHER to search the FAQs and the Help files and I didn't find anything about DCRAP or INTEL.. I did BOTHER to search the net with google and found others sucessfully using the same DCRAP device.

I thought this was a Newbie forum... thanks for nothing...

Should have been half a clue there!

Did you stroll through either of these threads?

Cards that reportedly do NOT work/ have problems w/NetStumbler 0.4

Cards that reportedly WORK with NetStumbler 0.4

Mayhaps you searched, mayhaps you read, but apparently you missed the fact that your Intel and your Dlink are not supported by NS and therefore will probably not work. The Intel, as Thorn said may work under NDIS 5.1 but that again is iffy.

If you have an Gold card, that's the one you should be using with NS since it's 100% supported. Why use anything less?

I find this statement a bit odd, since you're just now reading the README.

Isn't it obvious? "Me, me, me."
