Antenna Setup
I have a D-Link wireless router that is in one house at my lake front property. Currently, in my other house, approximately 1000 feet away, my computer cannot pick up any signal. There is a house between the two but I could angle the antenna to achieve line of sight. The closest I can get to the house with the router is approximately 900 feet by a tree outside. In order to get a better idea of my setup, I have attached an aerial photo with places marked and an approximate scale. What antenna (dBi rating, etc.) using an Orinoco PCMCIA card should I use to get a decent signal? Thanks.
PS- Sorry for posting such a large image last time. |

Any chance of a picture from router antenna to destination antenna?
What are your coax losses? Do you have proper fresnel zone clearance? http://www.sss-mag.com/pdf/an9804.pdf Next to ARRL, this is a great resource when dealing with radio links. Last edited by wrzwaldo : 06-03-2005 at 07:40 AM. |
