B/G Channel 6
Okay maybe this is silly..... but. Why do most routers default to channel 6? Its seems to me that the major builders of these APs could get to gether and at least decide. Okay you make ones that default to 7, and you 8, and you... and so on. Or even better yet, why not make each one off the line default to a random address?
All these wireless APS on channel 6 have to kill each other range. How dod they keep from stepping on each other? |

Due to channel overlap defaulting the channels to be off by 1 would not solve the problem. And even then it would be a crap shoot as to weather or not you end up with an AP defaulted to the same channel as a neighbor. Channels 1, 6, and 11 have the least overlap. This is the reason it is important to do a site survey and setup your equipment accordingly. Last edited by wrzwaldo : 01-31-2005 at 01:12 PM. |
