Connecting to networks found with NetStumbler
Hello, all. I know some of my questions may seem tired, but while I'm experienced with PCs and networks, I'm shamefully new to the Wi-Fi scene.
The problem I have is as follows: My neighbors have asked me to secure their networks. A friend told me about NetStumbler, and I downloaded it to search for their networks. I've found them, and many are unsecure. The problem is, while NetStumbler picks them up, my windows PC does not display them as available for connection. Is there anyway to connect to a network through NetStumbler? I want to see how truly secure these networks are, to find avenues to better the security as well. Thanks in advance for any help you can give! -Sean |

Since this was just asked lastnight, I recommend you read this. http://www.netstumbler.org/showpost....3&postcount=48 Edit: If you are shamefully new to Wifi what makes you qualified to be securing anyone's network? Are you prepared to be held liable when your 'fix' doesn't work and someone breaks into their network and steals all their stuff? I bet you're not.

Okay I'm tossing the bullshit flag right now! If your "neighbors" asked you to secure their "networks" wouldn't it stand to reason that the networks are in your "neighbors" houses? All the "avenues" to better secure a WiFi network are available without connecting to your "neighbors" networks! All configuration should be done via the wired side anyway!
