Desperately need help w/ hm network
I'll try to provide all the necessary info. I am looking to set up a wireless home network for internet, file and printer sharing. I have a desktop and laptop (wi-fi) that I am looking to connect. I think I have all the equipment. A linksys WRT54GS router, two network adapters one linksys and one dlink. I have installed both adapters and the router. I am able to access the internet (cable modem) with my laptop through my "network". But I cannot get the two computers to set up a network to access each others' files. Both are running XP, but I am stuck on how to proceed to set up my network. Are information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

Issues such as this are commonly refered to as "networking 101". All the details you need are here:

Haig,
After you read some of the info listed in the networking 101 link, see if you have each of the computers in the same workgroup. Go to control panel/system/computer name. I'm not sure that is totally necessary but it made my computers work better together. DrG
