OK...I'll bite....What software is it? Also do I have to install drivers for it to work? If so, hopefully there are instructions for nubs like me. Thanks.

The Clientmanager software for your card will detect SSID's just fine. The WindowsXP WiFi manager will also detect SSID's just fine.

And yes, you need drivers for your hardware, otherwise it won't work at all with Windows XP.

Depending on those drivers and how well they adhere to the NDIS 5.1 API, NetStumbler might even work with your card.

I think the folks over at WildPackets may have what you are looking for. But be warned it is very expen$ive. And the hardware requirements are pretty strict.

If you are that much of a newb, then why do you feel the need to detect cloaked SSID's?

I was about to answer with the same information, when I recalled that the O.P. asked for software that works with a specific piece of hardware... AFAIK there aren't anything out there on the Windows platform, with that capability, for the Intel 29xx series cards.

Kismet (devel branch) only recently (May 27'th) got support for the Intel 29xx series.

Lassie! Lassie's gone! You need to go search for her with google!

Joke over with, use google and look for it. Another good way to find it would be to go to the kismet website huh?

Kismet website: http://www.kismetwireless.net/

And to get you to the download page in case you cant find it : http://www.kismetwireless.net/download.shtml

Info about the devel branch is in there, how to get it should not be asked here.

I remember when we moved into a house in California when I was young. The previous owners used to feed the neighborhood stray cats whenever they came to the back door. We never liked the cats so whenever they showed up, we'd release the hounds to chase the cats over the back fence.

Not sure why that memory just came to me. Hmmm.
