Distance coverage

Being a 'newb' to wifi (apart from the limited home/office use), what kind of range could legally be achieved by one antenna (can be mounted high) assuming near line of sight?

What antenna would be best for this purpose?

I think some folks achieved approximately 127 miles in Las Vegas this year.

The antenna depends on your application.

Wow, nice demonstration of potential.

How about omnidirectional antennas?

You need to describe exactly what you're trying to do and what you have to do it with.

Searching this site, especially the FAQS and sticky's, may help you define what you want and express it so most folks understand your goal.

Unless you are designing a Point-to-Point system, you can't get 15 miles out of WiFi. Somehow, if you were designing a PtP, I suspect you'd already know what you need, and wouldn't be asking the question.

The Antenna FAQ Forum here has some basic antenna information, and may get you started. After that, there are literally thousands of sites. It all depends on what you are attempting to do.
