GPS Timeout

Hello,

I am running NS on Windows XP Home with the Earthmate LT-20. I have loaded the serial emulator from the Delorme site and it appears to be working properly. NS sees the GPS except "GPS-Timeout" alternates with an accurate fix about once per second. I have tried different ports and baud rates all with the same result. This includes only activating one port in the emulator. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Ken

You know you can't run both your map app and NS at the same time without using a gps sharing utility like gpsgate?

No. Just NS and the Emulator.

Hi,

That's the first thing I did. Tried all of the suggestions and still no success. Even tried finding the older emulator program without success. One of the posts suggested disabling the 16550 uart support. With the new emulator software the com ports do not appear under the device manager.

Still searching.

Thanks,

Ken

Hello again,

Ran Hyper Terminal on port 2 9600,8,1, none. The raw GPS data appears to be fine. But, Netstumbler continues to hiccup with the GPS timed out error about once per second in between accurate lat/lon fixes. I cannot find any obvious device conflicts in device manager. And, have tried disabling as many devices possible to find a resolution. None yet.

Thanks,

Ken

Receiving data through the emulator with NS and hyper terminal at every baud setting. Just the annoying time out and "bong" every second in NS. It may be an irq/memory conflict. I've emailed Delorme asking them for a copy of the old emulator which allows you to change settings through the device manager. If I can't find the conflicting device, at least the older emulator may be adjustable.

Thanks for the suggestion,

Ken
