Help With Networking
My dad bought a NetGear wireless router a few weeks ago, and I'm trying to connect my laptop up to it. My wireless card recognizes the network and I get a good signal, but for some reason I can't connect to the internet through it. I downloaded NetStumbler hoping that might work, but I'm not sure what to do with the information it gives me. Like, I see that it is telling me the MAC addresses and channels and stuff, but I don't know how to use that to connect to my dad's network. Or perhaps, is there a simpler solution to do this? I'm usually pretty good with computers, but this problem is beyond my abilities. I'd really appreciate it is someone could help me out.

It sounds like you need to do basic routing. Search the FAQs for "Networking 101" for a list of resourses.

Another possibility would be to call NetGear tech support - helping the folks who by their equipment that's what they're paid to do. |
