Hotel AP's have different encryption than normal?
When I checked into a hotel and purchased wireless access for the night, for some reason I expected a universal key rather than an http login prompt...how can you set up your own http login and password so you can set individual people passwords etc...is this method any harder for people to crack? Thanks

THATS THE LINGO!! THANKS BRO! (didn't know the name) The captive portal technique forces an HTTP client on a network to see a special web page (usually for authentication purposes) before surfing the Internet normally. This is done by intercepting all HTTP traffic, regardless of address, until the user is allowed to exit the portal. You will see captive portals in use at most Wi-Fi hotspots. It can be used to control wired access (e.g. apartment houses, business centers, "open" Ethernet jacks) as well. |

Stop the presses! Someone just thanked me for an answer. Anyone seen the temperature in hell? Must be getting cold down there. BTW, you are welcome. |
