Internal laptop wireless card antenna

Hello everyone,

I wanted to ask whether anyone knows whether the Intel ProWireless 2100 3B card has a directional or omni-directional antenna. Also, if it is directional, towards which direction it is radiating relatively to the laptop.

Thank you,
D.

Hi again,
I had already searched google and looked at the specifications of the antenna but I didn't find anywhere the information I wanted. What I found was that it has 'On-board dual diversity switching' but this (as far as I know) relates to polarization and not directionality of the antenna. Well, if you want to make my life easier you could give me a straight answer. If however you still want to make my life hard, it is ok with me but I would appreciate a few more hints.
Thanks,

d.

Or at least as near to omni as practical.

mini pci cards have no antenna (as a rule) just 2 connectors.
Look in your laptops mini pci bay, bet you find 1-2 ant. connectors.
Dell uses a cost effective* system in the C600/610 D600/610 series laptops.
About a 3-4" long cable from the card to a "antenna" said antenna is about 1/2' wide X 1.25" long X ?? thick fiberglass. It's mounted on the side of case(inside). It's as Omni as can be expected. No idea what its db gain is but I'd suspect it's close to 0 db.
Fab-corp has a nice laptop (much nice stuff) antenna. Would require voiding your warrenty to use it but well worth it.
