Well.. Seeing as PCI cards don't work with NS or any other Wifi Programs,
and the PCMCIA cards mentioned may cause you many problems, I suggest going to Ebay or someplace ang picking up a "Classic" lucent Gold Card.

Also - what you can get in your area for a signal plus when you're on the road is a distinctly dangerous topic for discussion - I suggest you not "get" any signal without prior permission. |

let me explane this. the pcmcia card is for when I travel all over the country(wardriving) to see how many ap there are from point a to point b the pci thing is for 2 things i I need one possibly soon and 2 being a good neighbor telling them how unsecure there connection is. I have absolutly no intent on hacking into peoples networks just to see howmany I can get and if they are secure.

As you try and explain to them how you know their network is not secure and that you're really not "hacking" into it. This is brilliant can't believe nobody else thought of it! |

ok I decided to get an orinoco card but looking at there website which would be the best one
http://www.proxim.com/products/wifi/client/ looking at it ORiNOCO 11a/b/g ComboCard would be the best but can I hook up an external antenna to this. as stated before I have no intention on hacking into peoples connection basically from point a to point b to see how many ap there are and howmany are secure/unsecure. |

Sorry no antenna connector on that one. Do you really need "a"? I don't know of any "a" cards in the US that have antenna connectors. If you are getting it just for stumbling get the Classic "b" card as it will detect "g" AP's. And the noise data is available / accurate. Last edited by wrzwaldo : 07-14-2004 at 02:33 PM. |
