New to Wireless for the most part - DLink card

Greetings all.
Looking to join in the wireless age.

I have a Linksys router, which I have WEP'ed to my DLink wireless card.

Now, I downloaded NetStumbler, and did a little wardriving, just to test the app and the like.

NetStumbler was set to "Autoconfigure". Does this mean, that it should try to configure my wireless card to that of the newly picked up wireless network so it can communicate on it (if possible of course)?

Anyone know if a DLink wireless card has problems?

I am really just getting into the wireless aspect (a network admin by trade, so I know networking and the like)

Appreciate you assistance!

No, and appearently you don't know how to read the included documentation, as that describes both what NetStumbler is designed to do, as well as what the Autoconfigure option does.

Hi there, Yeah I did read it, just not sure if I understood it specifically, hence the message. My apologies.

As far as accessing anothers network. Yes it was anothers, it was my neighbors, we were "playing around" with the newly purchased wireless cards and router.

I simply wanted to see if his wireless was locked down as well is all.

When you say "we" you did mean you and your neighbor? Or at least had his/her/its permission?
