Noise and Interference in a Big City
I live in a major metropolitan area and see an extraordinary amount of Access Points when my laptop is near a window (sometimes 20-30 APs).
My question is, do the other Access Points cause alot of interference with each other if they're on the same channel? If so, would a higher gain directional antenna aimed at a specific direction remove some of the interference problems (because it would be looking in a smaller targeted area with more concentrated power versus an omni antenna built into most laptops)? I'd like to understand the effects of interference and what directional/higher gain does in this big city scenario. Thanks |
