NS1 file to map.

Hi

I'm a n00b in the mapping buisness..... ;-)

I made my first NS1 file yesterday.

I've read some posts in this forum but need some help anyway!
* Is there a windows software that cleans up the NS1 file for multiple loggings of the same access point?
* Is there a way to use online mapping resources (google, map24, maporama or others like these)
* Is there a conversion routine to use NS1 files directly with Magellan Mapsend or Microsoft Autoroute Europe.

My plan is to be able to make maps like this: http://www.wifi-sikkerhed.dk/images/kort5_1600x1200.gif

1) Not necessary. The unique key used isn't the SSID, but the BSSID.
2) Previously you could use the gpsvisualizer site, but since vicinity.com went down, there are no free mapservers he could pull data from. Currently I don't know of any online mapserver which let's you plot the NS data directly.
You can also take a look at the wigle webmaps, even though they don't contain streetlevel data for Europe.
3) If your mapping sofware allows the import of csv files, then you can use a script to parse the text output from NS into a csv file.

Use the search facilities here in the future, and read the FAQ section. Most of your questions has been asked and answered a multitude of times before.

Personally I'm using GPSDrive which gives me the posibility of mapping my kismet trips.

New Version (0.0.42) of my Ns1Recovery now exports to Google .kml files. Try it out in the Beta exe folder

I did search, but probably not in the right way or with the right key words. I were not aware of the FAQ. Please link to such questions/FAQ when answering a n00b, we are ppl too..... ;-)

I'm in Skanderborg just south of Aarhus. I made my first WAR drive yesterday. 4 Km in the city of Skanderborg. I found 77 Networks. 26 og these were unprotected, isn't that just a little scarry.

Check the code. There is an error , causing

Code:

<?xml version="1.0"encoding="UTF-8"?>

instead of

Code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

, this kills the parsing in Google Earth.
Oh , and I'm still struglling with the regional thingie in the fixer...

Hi again.
Remember the problems I had with the Kismet to NS1 converter? Similar problems are encoundered here.

Just created Danish Wardrivers....... All ready my group is at 61st place out of 68. That is quite good in my book anyway.

You should have joined the NS group.. Then I wouldn't have felt so alone as the only dane in the #1 group

OK the fixes have been made try it out.

I've set the name field to the BSSID and the description to the SSID. It also strips out non-printable characters form the SSID so let me know if you find anything amiss.
