Seamless WIreless Connections
I have a wireless network setup in a large warehouse area with four access points. I've performed a site survey and it appears I have adequate coverage throughout the area. We have fork trucks with wireless laptops. The problem I'm having is there isn't a sealless connection from one AP to another. I momentarily lose the signal and when it reconnects I have to re-initiate some of my programs.
Is there a specific setup required for seamless connections within a large covered area. I'm a newbie to wireless, but not networking. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks, Ken |

What equipment are you using? Some manufacturers handle roaming better than others.

Do you have enough overlap between the APs respective coverage areas? Typically you want about 30% of the area between two APs to be covered by both. If it's there's not enough, that may be the problem.
Don't forget RF shadows cast by metalic or other materials that are transparent to the radio signals.
