Signal Rating in NetStumbler

Hello,
I've created a map using NetStumbler data that I exported to text then extracted out the SIGNAL column. My signal values ranged from 54 to 91. Is this a percentage of maximum signal strength ranging from 0-100%? I want to know what units I should say my values of 54-91 are. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks! :-)

It's whatever arbitrary value that your wireless NIC reports its signal strength in.
Do a search on signal strength.

I think he means what unit he should assign to those values, db or dbm.

Ahh.. AFAIR it's dBm, as it's the received signal strengths.

Ok so it's dBm? I saw an article that said I need to subtract 149 from each value to get dBm. So would that mean my 54 becomes -95dBm and 91 becomes -58dBm? So does that still mean the 91/-58dBm is a higher and better signal rating? Let me know if I'm thinking right here, thanks again! :-)

Any time you're dealing with negative numbers as you approach Zero, the value is greater. Therefore -50 is greather than -90.

Correct on the 149, and read the WiFi General information FAQ in the Faq section, for a much better explanation by Marius on receive sensitivity, than I can provide.
