A Simple question about Netstumbler and GPS

Hello, I've been a long time fan of netstumbler and I have a question about how it uses GPS to log a location.

Does the log only generate when a new AP is found (grabs the coords) or do the coords update as the signal strength gets stronger?

I'm planning on doing alot of wardriving to get my town on the map so If I drive down one road and netstumbler "Sees" the AP at that location and plots the coords, then I drive down a back street thats closer to the ap will the netstumbler file update the coords since the signal strength is higher?

If not does anyone know of software that does?

Thanks

What Barry said and

When you upload the file to Wigle it will add it to the existing database and further triangulate the position of the AP from existing data, if available.

Awesome!

Awesome, Thanks for the quick replys! So before I upload to wigle, if I drive down one street and back up another netstumbler will do the calculations for accuracy in its NS1 file. This makes me reallly happy!

We're here to please.

Don't forget the forum's search function, as this question has been answered before.

Actually NS records lat/logn and signal once every second for all active networks, no mater whether signal or position has changed.

If you call picking the reading with the strongest signal level, calculating.. then yes that's correct.

Wigle on the other hand uses some sort of black magic numeric masturbation to calculate positions, being data uploaded doesn't meet the requirements for true triangulation. (antenna gain, signal bearing)

Fixed.

There I understand it much better now.
