Trouble connecting antenna to my wifi card

i just recieved the 5 dbi antenna from fab corp today but the antenna cable has a metal piece at the end which blocks me from plugging it into my orinoco card

how exactly does this thing plug into the card?

sorry for the newbie question

This would be easier if you told us exactly wha parts you bought. As a general rule, you plug the MC connector (the small one) of a pigtail into your orinoco card. This pigtail terminates at a N connector of the polarity of your choosing. A mateing connector attachs the pig tail to your antenna.

The picture you provided was frankly rubbish. What was it of?

ya that picture came out terrible. it was the end piece of the cable that came with this:

you can see the pigtail connector clearly in that picture. i don't know how i can plug the pigtail to my card (orinoco classic gold) with that metal piece around it

It looks like you're missing a cable. To be exact, you need a MC -> N male pigtail. Something such as this (picture taken from FAB corp; make it up to them, buy one of these cables):
