Anyone got Ministumbler with a GPS working?

Hi,
I am running ministumbler without problems on my 3630.. the only thing I cannot get to work is the GPS function.. I know the link between my Garmin GPS 12 and the ipaq is good.. (it works fine with other software). The garmin is set to nmea/nmea 9600 bps.. anyone has any ideas? When I switch the ministumbler to com1 it says 'gps waiting' and thats it.. sometimes I get a gps timeout'..

Any ideas?
Alex

First you need to be at 4800, not 9600 bps. Also you need to be in hddd.ddddd mode and not in hddd.mmss.s mode.

ipaq and pharos

I have an iPAQ 3765 w/ a Pharos GPS and using a Compaq WL110 card. Dual sleeve with a 64Mb CF card for some music, maps and log files. I want to get an ?antennae? for it.

i never would have figured so many people used APs...
around here at least

working great btw

also make sure you are not running any moving map programs like the ostia software which comes with the pharos iGPS 180. It will conflict with the com1 port.dsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

and watch where u drive not the bottle... i mean screen1!

and don't submit posts from open APs!

I use the TravRoute Pocket CoPilot GPS with ministumbler and it works perfectly. Now I need to find a Pringles can.

I have MiniStumbler working on an iPAQ 3765 with a Compaq WL110 card and a DeLorme TripMate GPS plugged into the port on the bottom of the iPAQ thru a null modem. I tried an EarthMate (newer, smaller) but it isn't recognized. I think they use different protocols. The TripMate seems to work fine, but I have 2 questions:
1. How to keep the iPAQ from turning off? I have to keep tapping the screen every few minutes to keep it alive!
2. How does MiniStumbler link to a map? I have several mapping packages, some using vector maps and others using bitmaps.
Apart from these forums, I haven't found any documentation on MinisStumbler. Can someone point me to some?

I searched the forums and looked all over. Can a few people suggest serial based GPS units that are confirmed working with MiniStumbler (and I'm using a Casio E-115 if you're curious).

I just caught the post on the DeLorme TripMate. Would the Earthmate be about the same?

thanks for the help...

Saw on Ebay Garmin GPS][+ units... going for about 75-80 bux or so. I have two of them. Using one of them with NS on my laptop with NS running.

thanks. I'll check it out but what I don't know is if MiniStumbler supports everything NetStumbler does. NetStumbler gives you option on what GPS unit you have. MiniStumbler doesn't.

Besy Buy had a couple units for about 130 bucks that supported serial connections. I saw a couple online that supported PocketPCs specifically. But what I don't know is specifically what units have been tested and verified working under MiniStumbler and/or NetStumbler.

Thanks...

The eartmate will not work it doesn't do NMEA, The emap does, and I think most garmin units will work. What you need is support for NMEA at 4800, and it must output data in hddd.ddddd degrees. So if you can look at it this should help.

Pic got messed up - Prev Post

The ASCII picture that I drew in the previous post got messed. The spaces were striped.

Hopefully, this will look a little better.
